Tiki is a cultural phenomenon which started from the Central Polynesian culture and has now been accepted the world over. Tiki torches specifically have been an object of admiration and awe for all the tiki enthusiasts. Tiki torches have two parts that are there and the first one is the tiki outer shell and the second is the flame or the torch. The outer part originally was made out of bamboo but as with all things modern there are now tiki torches available in copper, stainless steel and brass. In fact if durability if one of the concerns then metal based tiki torches are of course the best fit. If you are looking at the decor and the almost near original thing then you will do better with the bamboo tiki torches. The best part is that bamboo tiki torches are also much economical to procure as opposed to the metal based torches. The other part to the tiki torches is the flame. The flame will need something to have it burning by which I mean the fuel and also the burning element which is the wick. The most common type of fuel which is used is the oil which is the paraffin oil. This oil is odorless and is very harmless. The other fuel which can be used is the propane gas or the natural gas. For gas based torches you will need to have a tank filled of either gas with a supply pipe attached to the torch. The benefit of gas based torches is that the flame burns continuously though it does not give the same visual charming appearance as the oil based flame. For a good odor floating across you can use citronella along with the paraffin oil. This additive has a nice odor and also is a known bug repellent. With the gas based flames the other thing is definitely needed is the precautions like cleaning the carbon deposits and the blockages in the supply line else these can be dangerous oversights. As far as buying these are concerned you can buy these at any big hardware stores or even online with the bamboo tiki torches being the most economical ones. The decor of the tiki torches is a sight to behold and that alone is the reason enough to buy those for your outdoor lighting or the beach wedding decor. There are now table top tiki torches available to use for the interior decorations or as centerpieces at a wedding reception.
