Three Easy Tips on Matching Your Tie with Your Shirt

By: Hendrik Pohl

Believe it or not, men are just as conscious as women when it comes to wearing the right pieces of clothing. People will easily notice you because of the clothes you wear and how you carry yourself. The best way to always looking your best is by matching the clothes you wear and you can start by combining the right tie and shirt.

Men often find it hard to mix and match their outfits that they end up wearing the same old combination of shirts and ties over and over again. Worse, sometimes they end up wearing clothes that do not match at all. If you want to add color to your usual getup, start by learning how to match your tie with your shirt. Here are three easy tips you should always put in mind:

First thing first
Before you dress yourself with any piece of clothing you get your hands on, always start by choosing the suit you want to wear for the day and lay it on the bed. After which, drape your chosen shirt under the jacket and see if they go well together. A dark gray suit for instance looks good with a light blue or white shirt. Lastly, find the right tie. Play it safe by choosing a dark blue, red, or striped tie of your choice.

Combine the right patterns
Before you think of buying that latest patterned tie on display, ask yourself if you have a dress shirt that matches it. Most men buy their ties just because they look good on others or they find them attractive to look at. Avoid combining the wrong patterns by matching patterned ties with plain pieces like a blue pinstripe suit with a light blue shirt and plain red tie. On the other hand, you cannot go wrong by combining small patterns with large ones like in the case of a blue suit, white shirt and a pink tie.

Play with colors
Different colors can play up your whole outfit. When it comes to clothes, dont be afraid to experiment with colors. If you are attending a formal occasion, try to look conservative by wearing a gray suit and white dress shirt. Then wear a red, pink or green necktie to complete your outfit. Meanwhile, if you are still hesitant in combining colors for your outfit, put in mind that ties in almost any color will look good with a blue suit and light blue shirt. Always make sure that the color combination has that balanced and harmonious effect.

Do you want to look your best and leave a lasting, positive first impression? Match your tie with your shirt by simply following the tips presented above. Just remember to match your suit, dress shirt, and tie accordingly and you will never go wrong.
