Roman blinds bring sophistication and elegance to a home, in the majority of cases they are manufactured from fabric and are available in a number of different styles, patterns and colours. Roman blinds offer the homeowner much; tight, clean lines that are miles apart from messy drapes and curtains. With the correct selection process it is possible to find window coverings that match the interior decor perfectly. Hence it is important to follow a three step consideration process along the lines of shape, colour and texture. Roman blinds are fundamentally flat panels of fabric when fully extended. However, once they are drawn up they have different characteristics. It is when they are drawn up that it is possible to notice the difference between the two varieties of roman shades. The first folds up with a horizontal crease that fits neatly in the window recess. The second variety loops up in a tear drop shape when raised; this tear drop sits away from the window recess but does create a soft look and can be more pleasing to the eye than horizontal lines. Colour is the next consideration when choosing roman blinds. Naturally being made from fabric there is a myriad of options when it comes to deciding on a particular colour. A great deal of this decision boils down to personal choice, whether the blinds are to match, accentuate or contrast the existing decor. It is worth remembering that different colour combinations will create different effects, for example yellows and oranges will create a summery, warm effect whereas darker colours such as blues will be understandably colder. The choice of textures is also practically limitless when it comes to roman blinds. For instance stiff denim is a popular choice as is canvas and even leather. While these materials may be slightly hard, softer effects can be created with satin that will flow in the breeze. These softer fabrics are ideally suited to the teardrop variety of shades due to their flexible nature. Once again the choice of texture, as with colour ultimately depends upon personal choice. It is hoped that this article has provided consumers with the three key considerations that should be made whenever looking to purchase roman blinds. If colour, texture and style are all carefully contemplated it should be possible to find window coverings that will not only match the interior design of a home, but enhance it.
